Make a dough by cutting butter into flour, sugar, baking powder, salt. Add beaten egg and almond extract to form a soft dough. Divide into portions and shape each into a long flat log on a baking sheet (creating long, flat bars). Sprinkle with sliced almonds and press lightly. Bake at 350?F until edges are lightly browned and center is set (about 12?15 min). While warm, cut crosswise into strips. Drizzle cooled cookies with almond glaze (powdered sugar mixed with a little milk and almond extract)..
